Ford vehicles have many types of lighting from the factory. Headlights are the commonest. A headlight shines both a low beam and a high beam. Low-beam headlights illuminate the way during everyday driving. They're adequate in most weather. High-beam headlights shine wider. When it's very dark and no other traffic's coming, they help you see what's around you a lot better.
Any headlamp will also work as a flasher. Put two to four together, and you've got hazard lights. They inform drivers that you're in distress or that there are problems on the road or dangerous situations nearby. Some Ford models also have fog lights built into their higher trims. These shine lower with reduced glare, brightening your driving environment much better. They're great in bad weather.
Kinds of Headlights
Ford headlights come from your OEM with one of three lamp types. Halogen headlights are commoner in small cars. Xenon headlights, also called high-intensity discharge or HID headlights, fit in narrower housings. You'll find them in many sports cars. LED headlights, you can find in most newer vehicles. They're highly energy-efficient, and they produce very little heat. What headlights does your Ford need? That's body-style dependent. When to change a car light bulb isn't, though. Replace Xenon lamps when they weaken, about every three years. Change LED lamps if they burn out or their electronics fail. Change halogen lamps every two years at least.
